Final Life Drawing

For the final life drawing a male torso was drawn. The is a strong light source coming from the top right and this gives a good balance as there are some dark areas when there is a shadow cast and very light areas where the light shining is strongest. There are also several values of grey in the shading which help give the drawing more depth and detail. With the light source you can see the rips as shadows are cast and there are subtle differences in the shading. Hatching was used for some of the shading and the shading follows the muscles as it gives a better definition of the body and muscle structure. There is good proportion in the drawing and the balance and posture are good. The muscles can be seen by the direction of the shading. This drawing took 35 minutes to complete.

Final Still Life Drawing

This is the final still life drawing. For this drawing there is a white cloth was placed on top of a table which had some elevated platforms. There is a good sense of composition and the objects stand out because of some of the highlights. The main focal point of this drawing is the basket because there is a lot of detail on it and there is some highlights on it which help it to stand out. The light source for this drawing was the main light in the room which was hanging down from the ceiling. However there was a large mirror on the right hand side which reflected some of the light onto the objects and the cloth. These are some of the object collected from around the house. There is a basket, living room decoration, paint bottle, pan, cup, plate and a smaller container. The pan was made of metal which was a reflective surface and this reflected some of the surroundings. The decoration was paper leafs in a long thin vase. There are some strong cast shadows especially from the basket, the pan and the plate. There are also many different values of grey that can be seen on the cloth and on the objects. There is rule of thirds used in this as the basket and the decoration are in the main focal points for it to be considered rule of thirds. There is also an implied line which travels from the basket up to the decoration and then along to the cup. At t his point it travels down to the pan and the n down on to the shading on the cloth. This drawing was completed in 50 Minutes.

Final Landscape Drawing

This is a drawing of a landscape looking from a window. There is impressionistic technique used in the drawing where only some of the brick have been drawn. This is because they were the darkest and instead of drawing all of them only some of them where drawn to give the sense that the wall is made of bricks. In the image the main focal point is the large bush in the bottom right hand corner and that garden is a contrast to the garden next to it which is mostly empty. There is some detail on the houses as there are some marks on the walls and also because on the day this way drawn there was rain some the water was going on the walls as well.  For the large bush in the bottom right hand corner a certain drawing technique was used where swirls and curves were used as the leaves were quite small but they were round.  There is good composition in the drawing and the drawing uses the rule of thirds as the bush is in one of the focal point used for rule of thirds. There is also an implied line which goes from the bush along to the left following the gate and then along the fence to the house. At this point it follows the pipe up to the roof and along it to the mark in the middle of the house. This drawing took 1 hour 5 minutes to complete as there is a lot of detail which I had to observe carefully.
