In week 11 the muscles architecture is being shown. When
looking at the muscles you ca n see what directional they follow and this helps
when shading as you can follow the muscle to create a better look. The first
drawing is of a male model and there is a shadow being cast on him from the
strong light coming from the windows. The arms cast shadow can be seen on the
body but instead of shading in one direction it has been done in many because the
shading is following the muscle architecture. Also looking at the drawing you
can see some of the ribs and how muscles are around them by looking closely at
the model and this was shown well in the drawing.
The second drawing is a directed study drawing of a male
body. This was drawn because the shading on the body is different to the first
image. The shading is done well because the are many different values and
around the clavicle the shadows are darker compared to other parts giving a
variety and helping to see the muscles better. The neck has been shaded well
and cross hatching has been used to show the darker part it. This drawing was
completed in 35 minutes after getting inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci’s
drawings.
