With these quick sketches you can see the anterior,
posterior and the lateral. There were some problems before as the drawings were
not completed quick enough or the head was not mapped out. This is why there
are notes at the top of the page. Another problem was that instead of big strokes
from the elbow with the pencil the wrist was being used more so it gave the
impression of hairy lines. Therefore in these three, one minute drawings longer
strokes were used and the head was drawn first and then the rest of the body
was mapped out. For the 3 drawing when the model is bend don’t the spine was
mapped out to help with the drawing.
The second image is 15 minute drawing of the model sitting
on a table. The right arm and hand were drawn too long so some changes had to
be made. There is good posture and the skeleton has been mapped out well which
help with the curvature in the spine. There is some good shading especially on
the leg as the shading follows the muscle architecture and crosshatching is
used as the shadow is cast by the right arm. The head and the hair have been
drawn well as there is good shape and the detail in the hair is good. The head
is also a good size compared to the body as measurement was used from the top
of the head to the top of the right shoulder as the full head could not be
seen. There is some good posture in the drawing as the model sits and there is
balance. The weight and muscles look like they are supported by the skeleton.
The gesture is also seen in the drawing as the model has her arms wrapped
around her legs which are being elevated by a platform.
The final drawing is of the model lying down. With this
drawing the sense of perspective is being shown and it is what was intended
from the start. The models head and arm are a lot further away that her feet
and legs so the look smaller. There is also some drapery coming from the cloth
and there are some shadows being cast. Firstly the skeleton was mapped out and
this can be seen by the planning lines in the drawing. There is some detail
captured in the drawing such as the toes, the knees and the face. The arms have
been drawn several times to get the shape correct as they were drawn too big
before. There is a strong gesture in the drawing as well as balance and weight.
This drawing was completed in 20 minutes.
